COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Applied Science in Psychology (Developmental and Communication Science) program must complete eight courses, all for a numeric grade unless only offered as Credit/No Credit. No more than half of the required courses can be Credit/No Credit. Course substitutions and use of unlisted courses to meet degree requirements require approval from the advisor, Area Head, and Associate Chair, Graduate Studies in Psychology. One statistics course must be selected from PSYCH 630, 632, 800, 801, or 804. Two developmental psychology courses must be chosen from options such as PSYCH 701, 702, 705, 706, 708, 709, 713, or others as approved. Two electives must be taken from outside the developmental psychology area and can include courses from other psychology research fields or departments, subject to advisor and program approval. In addition, students complete PSYCH 820, 821, and 822, a three-term community practicum series offering hands-on, applied experience. Students must also enroll in PSYCH 710, the Current Issues in Developmental Psychology Seminar, in the Fall and Winter terms for at least two years unless completing the program early or granted departmental exemption. Extra-to-degree courses must be formally declared using a course drop/add form.
