COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Arts in Planning Collaborative Aeronautics program requires students to complete a comprehensive set of courses designed to build interdisciplinary expertise in both planning and aeronautics. Students must complete AVIA601 Interdisciplinary Aeronautics and AVIA602 Interdisciplinary Aeronautics Project, each worth 0.50 units, to gain foundational and applied knowledge in aeronautical fields. In addition, students complete core planning courses including PLAN700 Planning Paradigms and Theory, PLAN701 Land Use Planning Fundamentals, PLAN703 Planning Professional Practice, PLAN704 Methods of Planning Analysis, and PLAN710 Research Design, all at 0.50 units each, to develop a strong theoretical and practical grounding in urban and regional planning. Further practical experience is provided through PLAN720 Introductory Planning Project Studio and PLAN721 Advanced Planning Project Studio, totaling 2.00 units. Students must also complete two 600-level elective one-term courses for a total of 1.00 unit, which may be taken in other departments with the supervisor’s approval. One elective may be a reading course. Students with a prior degree in planning may request to substitute an additional elective for PLAN701, pending approval from the Associate Director of Graduate Studies. Overall, this course structure ensures a balanced, interdisciplinary education, preparing students to address complex planning challenges within aeronautics and beyond.
