COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s Research Paper option requires students to complete a comprehensive set of core and elective courses designed to provide a strong foundation in economics and water management. Students must complete ECON600 (Mathematics for Economists), ECON601 (Microeconomic Theory I), ECON602 (Macroeconomic Theory I), ECON607 (Data Science for Economists), and ECON621 (Econometrics I), each valued at 0.50 units. These courses ensure students gain essential quantitative, theoretical, and analytical skills necessary for advanced economic analysis. Additionally, students are required to complete two interdisciplinary water-related courses, WATER601 (Integrated Water Management) and WATER602 (Integrated Water Management Project), which focus on understanding and managing complex water systems through practical and theoretical approaches. These courses emphasize the integration of environmental and economic perspectives in addressing water resource challenges. To complete the program, students must also take one graduate-level elective course, allowing for specialization or further exploration of their research interests. This curriculum is designed to equip students with rigorous training in economics and water management, fostering the ability to conduct original research and contribute to interdisciplinary solutions in water-related economic issues. The blend of economics and water-focused courses prepares graduates for careers in research, policy, and applied economics, or for further academic study at the doctoral level.
