COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology program requires students to complete a comprehensive set of courses that build a strong foundation in both biological and social aspects of psychology. Core courses include Introductory Cell Biology (BIOL130) and its lab, General Chemistry 1 and 2 with their respective labs, as well as fundamental psychology courses such as Cognitive Processes (PSYCH207), Developmental Psychology (PSYCH211), Physiological Psychology (PSYCH261), and research-focused classes like Basic Research Methods (PSYCH291) and Basic Data Analysis (PSYCH292). Advanced research methods and data analysis courses (PSYCH389, PSYCH390, PSYCH391, and PSYCH492) further develop students' scientific and analytical skills. Students also select one communication course (COMMST193 or ENGL193), an introductory psychology course, and electives in social or organizational psychology and psychopathology. The program includes an honours seminar option with topics ranging from child psychopathology to cognitive neuroscience, allowing for specialization. Additional requirements include completing 0.5 units of 100- or 200-level biology courses, excluding specific courses, and two math courses from designated subjects to strengthen quantitative skills. Students must also complete 5.25 units of science courses from various disciplines and at least four advanced psychology courses, plus one more psychology course at any level. This diverse curriculum ensures a well-rounded education, preparing students for careers or further study in psychology and related fields.
