The Materials and Nano-Sciences (MNS) program at Waterloo offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary curriculum designed to equip students with deep knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of advanced materials. Starting with foundational courses like MNS101, which introduces materials and nanosciences in the modern world, and MNS102, focusing on essential techniques, students build a solid base. The program includes practical laboratory work through MNS201L, providing valuable experimental skills. Core courses such as MNS211 and MNS221 explore the chemistry and physics of solid-state materials, essential for understanding the structure and properties of materials. Advanced courses like MNS321 delve into the electrical and optical properties, while MNS322 focuses on polymer materials, and MNS331 covers biomaterials, expanding knowledge into specialized areas relevant to emerging technologies.
