COURSE CURRICULUM

The required courses for this program provide a comprehensive foundation in biology, chemistry, earth sciences, physics, communication, and mathematics, designed to give students a broad and thorough scientific education. In the first year, students must complete two biology courses from options including Biodiversity, Biomes, and Evolution, Introductory Cell Biology, Organismal and Evolutionary Ecology, and several others, along with their associated labs if applicable. Chemistry requirements include General Chemistry 1 and 2 with their respective laboratories, Physical and Chemical Properties of Matter, and Chemical Reactions, Equilibria and Kinetics courses, also paired with labs. Earth sciences involve Introductory Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences, both with laboratory components. Physics courses cover Mechanics and Waves, Electricity and Magnetism, each with their labs, as well as introductory Physics 1 and 2 with labs. Communication skills are addressed through courses like Communication in the Sciences or English in the Sciences. Finally, students must complete two math courses from various options such as Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, or Statistics, with exclusions like CS100 and MATH103. Together, these courses ensure students develop a strong interdisciplinary foundation, preparing them for diverse scientific pursuits and advanced study in a flexible and integrated learning environment.
