COURSE CURRICULUM

The program requires completion of several core courses including ACTSC221 (Introductory Financial Mathematics), CS234 (Data Types and Structures), and MTHEL206 (Introduction to Mathematics Education). Students must also choose one course from differential equations or discrete models such as AMATH250/251 or AMATH343, and one from advanced analysis options like AMATH331/332 or PMATH331/332/333/351/352. Optimization courses CO250 or CO255 are required, along with a choice between CO380 (Mathematical Discovery and Invention) or CO480 (History of Mathematics). Students select one course from various computer science options including CS230, CS330, CS338, CS370, CS371, CS430, or CS436, plus one calculus 3 course (MATH237 or MATH247), and one introductory combinatorics course (MATH239 or MATH249). Additional choices include one geometry or logic course such as PMATH320/321/330/340/432/440 and one abstract algebra course from PMATH334/336/347/348. Psychology courses PSYCH101 and PSYCH211 or PSYCH212 are also required. In statistics, one course from STAT331, STAT332, or STAT333 must be completed. Finally, students must complete eight additional 300- or 400-level math courses from ACTSC, AMATH, CO, CS, MATBUS, MATH, PMATH, or STAT, including any previously taken to fulfill these requirements. This comprehensive curriculum develops strong mathematical, computational, and educational skills for future math educators.
