COURSE CURRICULUM

Mathematical Physics program, students build a strong foundation through a combination of Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science courses. The mathematics curriculum includes courses such as Algebra for Honours Mathematics, Calculus 1 and 2 for Honours Mathematics, and Linear Algebra 1, providing essential tools for upper-year study. Physics courses focus on fundamental topics like Mechanics and Waves, Electricity, and Magnetism, introducing students to core concepts in physical sciences. Complementing these are introductory computer science courses that students can choose from, including Introduction to Computer Science 1 or Designing Functional Programs, followed by Introduction to Computer Science 2 or Elementary Algorithm Design and Data Abstraction. These computer science courses equip students with programming skills and algorithmic thinking critical for computational aspects of mathematical physics. Additionally, students take a communication skills course to enhance their professional and academic communication abilities. Advanced-stream options in algebra, calculus, and computer science are available for students who meet the requirements, allowing them to challenge themselves further. After the first year, the focus shifts more heavily toward Physics and Mathematics courses, as students delve deeper into the theoretical and mathematical aspects of physical phenomena. This foundational year prepares students for the rigorous and interdisciplinary nature of Mathematical Physics in later years.
