COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematical Finance program features a rigorous curriculum that merges advanced mathematics, statistics, and finance to prepare students for quantitative roles in the financial sector. Required courses include foundational financial mathematics (ACTSC231), corporate finance (ACTSC372), and risk management (ACTSC445, ACTSC446), alongside core mathematical training in real analysis (PMATH351), measure theory (PMATH450), and applied mathematics. Statistical depth is provided through courses in mathematical statistics (STAT330), linear models (STAT331), stochastic processes (STAT333), and forecasting (STAT443). Students also complete courses in financial accounting (AFM101), managerial accounting (AFM102), and introductory business (AFM131 or ARBUS101), as well as micro- and macroeconomics (ECON101, ECON102), and economic theory (ECON201). Computational skills are developed through options in numerical methods or computational mathematics (e.g., CS335, AMATH242), and further mathematical modeling through differential equations (AMATH250/350), optimization (CO250/255), or complex analysis (PMATH352). A final advanced elective can be chosen from financial modeling, portfolio optimization, or functional analysis.
