COURSE CURRICULUM

The program’s course requirements are thoughtfully designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of sexualities, relationships, and families from multiple perspectives. Students must complete core foundational courses, including SRF101 Introduction to Sexualities, Relationships, and Families, SRF205 The Dark Side of Sex and Sexualities, and SRF207 Parent and Child Relations, which explore essential themes around human sexuality and family dynamics. Additional required courses include SRF208 Introduction to Systemic Therapies and Anti-Oppressive Practices, SRF220 Introduction to Research Methods, SRF230 Introduction to Statistics, SRF310 Sexual and Relational Ethics, and the SRF400 Capstone Seminar, which culminates the program with an integrative, research-focused experience. Students must also complete one course focusing on human sexuality, choosing between PSYCH236 A Psychological Analysis of Human Sexuality or SRF204 Introduction to Human Sexualities. To deepen their knowledge, students select two courses from a range of advanced topics such as interpersonal relations (PSYCH354), human sexuality in relationships (SRF304), social issues in sexuality (SRF305), intimate relationships (SRF306), conflict in close relationships (SRF307), and special topics courses (SRF365, SRF366). This curriculum balances theoretical foundations, ethical considerations, and applied research methods, preparing students for careers in education, counseling, social services, and community engagement, while fostering critical thinking and a social justice perspective.
