COURSE CURRICULUM

Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) offers a comprehensive exploration of the causes, dynamics, and resolution of conflict, focusing on building peaceful and just societies. The program covers a wide range of topics including the roots of violence and peace, conflict resolution, peace movements, restorative justice, and the role of gender, religion, and culture in peacebuilding. Students engage with specialized courses such as peace and the environment, negotiation strategies, refugees and forced migration, trauma and healing, and ethics of peacebuilding. Hands-on learning is emphasized through internships, advanced mediation practice, and travel courses that deepen understanding of peace in diverse contexts. With courses on Christian approaches to peacemaking, fair trade, and the intersection of music and peace, students gain interdisciplinary perspectives. The program also prepares students with skills in negotiation, mediation, and transformative education, helping them to become effective practitioners in conflict resolution. Small classes and seminars encourage critical discussion, while senior research seminars enable students to conduct in-depth study on peace and conflict issues. By combining theory, practice, and real-world experience, PACS equips graduates with the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to peacebuilding efforts locally and globally.
