COURSE CURRICULUM

The Systems Design Engineering program requires students to complete a comprehensive sequence of courses that build foundational knowledge and advanced skills across engineering, mathematics, design, and systems analysis. In the first year, students take core courses in calculus, physics, digital computation, design, and communication, laying the groundwork for engineering principles and effective collaboration. The second year advances into dynamics, probability, statistics, linear systems, engineering economics, and prototyping, with seminars and laboratory components to enhance practical skills. In the third year, students delve deeper into applied linear algebra, system models, design methods, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, control systems, and optimization, supported by seminars and hands-on labs. The fourth year focuses on capstone projects, complex systems, and numerous approved electives that allow specialization and exploration of topics such as biomedical engineering, computer networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, human-computer interaction, robotics, and more. Students also complete seminars and workshops throughout the program to strengthen communication and professional skills. With a robust list of technical electives, students tailor their education to align with their interests and career goals, gaining expertise in cutting-edge areas like biomedical measurement, transit planning, cognitive ergonomics, and design optimization. This structure equips graduates with the multidisciplinary knowledge and practical experience needed to tackle complex engineering challenges in diverse industries.
