COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Engineering program requires a structured progression of core and elective courses designed to build expertise in environmental systems and engineering principles. In Year 1, students complete foundational courses such as Mechanics, Environmental Chemistry, Calculus, and Communication, alongside introductory environmental engineering concepts and linear algebra. Year 2 deepens understanding with courses in Sustainability Analysis, Aquatic Chemistry, Fluid Mechanics, and Environmental Modelling, complemented by seminars and electives including Hydrology and Open Channel Flow. Year 3 focuses on advanced topics like Lab Analysis, Physico-Chemical Processes, Economics and Life Cycle Cost Analysis, Geotechnical Engineering, Decision Making, Biological Processes, and Law and Ethics for environmental engineers, alongside approved electives. In the final year, students undertake a two-part Environmental Engineering Design Project, supported by seminars and a selection of approved electives. The program also requires nine technical electives, with five chosen from List 1, featuring courses like Air Quality Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Transport Principles, HVAC Systems, and Data Structures, while the remaining four can be selected from List 1 or List 2, offering courses in Environmental Toxicology, Energy Systems Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geographic Information Systems, Thermodynamics, and Optimization. This curriculum equips students with the interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills needed to address complex environmental challenges through engineering solutions.
