COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Engineering program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills needed for building design, operation, and sustainability. In the first year, foundational courses like Concepts Studio, History of the Built Environment, Mechanics, Linear Algebra, Chemistry, and Calculus set the stage. The second year deepens knowledge with courses in enclosure design, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and environmental building systems, along with communication skills tailored for engineering professionals. Third-year students focus on structural analysis, soil mechanics, timber design, and architectural engineering studios, while also exploring economics and life cycle cost analysis. The final year emphasizes project studios, engineering law and ethics, and a range of approved electives allowing specialization. Students must also complete a Natural Science course and seven technical electives chosen from three lists, covering topics such as building enclosure systems, HVAC, structural steel and concrete design, rehabilitation of structures, finite element analysis, and physical infrastructure planning. The program balances technical rigor with practical, hands-on learning, preparing students to address challenges in building performance, sustainability, and construction management while fostering strong communication and collaboration skills essential for leadership in the architectural and engineering fields.
