ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The University of Waterloo (UWaterloo or UW) is a leading public research university in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, officially established in 1959 from the Waterloo College Associate Faculties. Renowned for its innovative co-operative education program—the largest of its kind globally—Waterloo integrates academic learning with industry experience, particularly in engineering, computer science, and mathematics. The university comprises six faculties, thirteen schools, three satellite campuses, and four affiliated university colleges, and is a founding member of the U15 group of Canada’s top research universities. Notable achievements include launching North America’s first Faculty of Mathematics and the world’s first Department of Kinesiology in 1967. With approximately 36,000 undergraduate and 6,200 graduate students, Waterloo has a vast alumni network in over 150 countries and maintains close ties with the tech industry through the David Johnston Research and Technology Park. From 2009 to 2012, it operated undergraduate programs in Dubai in partnership with the Higher Colleges of Technology.
