COURSE CURRICULUM

Graduates of the MSc in Geography program will emerge with advanced knowledge and research skills that prepare them to contribute meaningfully to the field of geography and address real-world environmental and societal challenges. Throughout the program, students will develop a deep understanding of core concepts and advanced methodologies in one or more of the major domains of geography, such as physical geography, human geography, geomatics, coastal systems, or environmental sustainability. A key outcome of the program is the ability to design and execute original research. Under faculty supervision, students will carry out independent thesis projects that make a substantive contribution to geographic knowledge, from formulating research questions to disseminating findings through academic publications and presentations. Clear and effective communication is also a central focus. Students will learn to present their research and data through written, oral, and graphic formats, developing the ability to share complex ideas with both academic and non-specialist audiences. In addition to technical and analytical skills, the program emphasizes collaboration and relationship-building. Students will engage with peers, faculty, and external partners in ways that reflect mutual respect and professional integrity, preparing them for research environments that are increasingly interdisciplinary and community-engaged. Ethical research practices are deeply embedded in the curriculum. Students will explore the ethical responsibilities of geography researchers, including issues related to data use, community engagement, and the environmental and social impacts of research. By the end of the program, graduates will not only have developed specialized expertise and technical competence, but also the critical awareness, communication abilities, and ethical grounding needed to lead and collaborate on impactful geographic research in academic, public, or private sector settings.
