COURSE CURRICULUM

The Clinical Psychology graduate program is CPA-accredited and follows a scientist-practitioner model that integrates rigorous research training with applied clinical skill development. It is designed as an important academic and professional step toward pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Students gain experience in conducting, analyzing, and communicating psychological research while also developing practical competencies for working in collaborative clinical and research environments. The program offers specialization in either lifespan psychology or neuropsychology, allowing students to focus their training according to their academic and career interests. A key feature of the program is the Undergraduate Competence Requirement, which ensures students demonstrate foundational knowledge across four major domains of psychology: individual differences and lifespan development, biological bases of behaviour, cognitive-affective processes, and social-cultural influences. Students meet these requirements through prior undergraduate coursework or approved graduate-level courses. Core training includes a research apprenticeship, clinical assessment and intervention courses, psychopathology across the lifespan, professional ethics, and a clinical colloquium that runs during the program. Students also complete a thesis based on original research, which forms the central scholarly output of the degree. In addition, they take specialized intervention courses such as cognitive behavioural therapy or child and family therapy depending on their emphasis. The program emphasizes both scientific rigor and applied clinical competence.
