COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering in Aerospace Systems Engineering is a professionally oriented graduate program consisting of 16.5 units, including 13.5 units of coursework and a 3.0-unit capstone project. It is designed to provide advanced technical training in modern aerospace systems with a focus on autonomous and emerging flight technologies. The program includes a structured set of professionalism courses—ECE591 (Professional Foundation), ECE592A (Professional Career Development I), and ECE592B (Professional Career Development II)—which develop communication, career readiness, and professional engineering skills. Students must also complete four core technical courses: ASE501 (Autonomous Aircraft Systems Guidance, Navigation and Control), ASE502 (Advanced Electric and Hybrid Flight Propulsion Systems), ASE503 (Aircraft Composite Structures and Materials), and ASE504 (Aircraft Design), providing a strong foundation in aerospace engineering principles and emerging technologies. A key experiential component is ASE596, the AAV Design-Build-Fly Capstone Project, where students apply their knowledge to a comprehensive, real-world engineering challenge. In addition, students must complete at least 4.5 units of technical electives, selected with approval from an academic supervisor or program director, allowing specialization in areas of interest. Overall, the program integrates theoretical knowledge, applied engineering, and professional development to prepare graduates for advanced careers in aerospace innovation, particularly in autonomous aerial systems and sustainable aviation technologies.
