COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA in Sustainable Innovation at UVic is a 27-unit coursework-based graduate program designed to build strong foundations in business while integrating sustainability, innovation, and long-term strategic thinking. A major component of the program is its foundation courses, which collectively account for 16.5 units and provide students with core knowledge across essential areas of modern business practice. These courses include Marketing in a Connected World, which explores contemporary digital and global marketing environments, and Foundations of Sustainability, which introduces key principles of environmental and social responsibility in business. Students also study Business Economics to understand market systems, and Accounting and Financial Responsibility to develop financial literacy and ethical financial decision-making. Additional courses such as Finance for Impact and Sustainable Operations Management focus on aligning financial and operational strategies with sustainability goals. The program also emphasizes data-driven decision-making through Applied Data and Decision Analysis, while Innovation and Design develops creative problem-solving skills. Strategic thinking is strengthened through Strategy for the Long Term and Designing Innovative Organizations, while People and the Future of Work explores leadership, organizational behaviour, and workforce transformation. Overall, these foundation courses are designed to equip students with a multidisciplinary understanding of business, enabling them to address complex economic, social, and environmental challenges while preparing for leadership roles in sustainable and innovative organizations.
