COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Geography program requirements are designed to provide a strong foundation in human geography while allowing flexibility to explore diverse social science perspectives. In Year 1, students complete introductory courses such as GEOG101B and GEOG103, along with one additional geography course focused on environment or digital systems. They also take electives from a wide range of humanities and social science subjects, helping to build interdisciplinary understanding. In Year 2, students develop core skills by choosing courses in GIS, quantitative or qualitative methods and remote sensing, alongside courses in human geography topics such as environmental management, political and economic geography or social and cultural geography. They also take one physical geography course to maintain balance between human and environmental perspectives. In Years 3 and 4, students deepen their knowledge through regional geography courses and advanced topics such as migration, urban development, sustainability, geopolitics and community mapping. Field studies and applied learning opportunities are also available. Additional upper-level geography courses and electives allow students to tailor their degree to their interests. Overall, the program emphasizes critical thinking, research and real-world application, preparing graduates for careers in planning, policy, community development and global studies.
