COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science (MSc) in Statistics (course-based) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to provide advanced training in statistical theory, methods, and applied data analysis without requiring a thesis. The program is structured over two academic years and focuses on building strong analytical and computational skills. In the first year, students complete 12 credit hours of core coursework, including STAT 754 and STAT 851 in the fall semester, followed by STAT 757 and STAT 855 in the winter semester. These courses establish a solid foundation in probability, statistical inference, and advanced statistical methods. In the second year, students complete 18 credit hours of additional advanced and specialized coursework. During the spring and summer term, students take two courses from MATH/STAT 8xx or MATH/STAT 890AA–ZZ, allowing flexibility to explore specialized or applied topics in statistics and mathematics. In the fall term, students complete STAT 818 and STAT 859, followed by STAT 852 and STAT 802 in the winter semester, which further strengthen expertise in statistical modeling, data analysis, and applied methods. Overall, the program equips graduates with strong quantitative, analytical, and computational skills, preparing them for careers in data science, analytics, government, industry, or further professional and academic development in statistics-related fields.
