COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science (MSc) in Mathematics (thesis-based) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to provide advanced training in mathematical theory, problem-solving, and original research. The program requires a minimum of 15 credit hours of coursework selected from graduate-level mathematics offerings, allowing students to build strong expertise in specialized areas such as algebra, analysis, topology, applied mathematics, or computational mathematics. These courses form the academic foundation needed for conducting advanced research. In addition to coursework, students complete MATH 900, typically taken twice for 1 credit hour each, which focuses on seminars, professional development, or research-related academic engagement within the department. Students are also required to complete MATH 902, a non-credit requirement that may involve comprehensive examinations or research preparation milestones. The central component of the program is MATH 901, which accounts for 13 credit hours and represents the thesis research portion of the degree. In this stage, students conduct independent, original research under faculty supervision and produce a written thesis that contributes new knowledge to the field of mathematics.
