COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts (MA) or Master of Science (MSc) in Aging Studies (thesis-based) is a 30.0 credit hour graduate program designed to provide advanced interdisciplinary training in the study of aging. Offered through the University of Regina, the program focuses on the biological, psychological, social, and ethical dimensions of aging, preparing students for research-intensive and academic careers. It is particularly suited for individuals interested in understanding the complex processes of aging and contributing to knowledge that supports the well-being of older adults. The program begins with core coursework such as AGIN/SW 803 or AGIN/SW 816, followed by additional required courses selected from options including JSGS 817, JSGS 837, EC&I 809, PSYC 823, SW 881, and KHS 802, which provide a multidisciplinary foundation in aging studies. Students also complete courses such as KHS 892/AGIN 890 or NURS 820/AGIN 893, along with PSYC 801, PSYC 802, or KHS 801, and an advanced course addressing ethical issues in aging research and practice. The program includes AGIN 800 (seminar) and culminates in AGIN 901, a major thesis-based research project that involves independent, original scholarly work. Overall, the program prepares graduates for doctoral studies, research roles, and leadership positions in aging-related fields.
