COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Music (MMus) in Performance (Voice) – Project is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to provide advanced vocal training through intensive study, performance practice, and applied musical development. The program combines academic coursework with individualized instruction to prepare singers for professional careers in performance and music education. Students begin with core courses such as MAP 800, MU 813, and MU 815, which focus on advanced music theory, research approaches, and interpretive skills essential for high-level vocal artistry. They also complete MU 861, which provides specialized training in vocal performance techniques, repertoire development, and stylistic interpretation across classical and contemporary music. Performance-based courses such as MU 831 and MU 832 or MU 881 and MU 882 further enhance technical proficiency, stage presence, and interpretive depth. Students also take one elective from MU 803–809, 811, 817, 818, 820, 821, or 841, or approved language courses such as German, French, Spanish, or MU 860, allowing for broader artistic and academic development. The program culminates in MU 902, a 12-credit major project focused on advanced vocal performance and artistic presentation. Overall, the MMus in Voice Performance prepares graduates for careers as professional singers, educators, and advanced performers in both artistic and academic contexts.
