COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Music (MMus) in Performance (Keyboard Instruments) – Project is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to provide advanced professional training in keyboard performance through intensive study, coursework, and applied musical practice. The program combines academic study with one-on-one instruction and performance development. Students complete core courses such as MAP 800, MU 813, and MU 815, which focus on advanced music theory, research approaches, and interpretive or analytical skills essential for high-level musicianship. They also take specialized performance courses including MU 881 and MU 882, which provide intensive training in keyboard technique, repertoire development, and performance practice under expert mentorship. Additional coursework includes one selection from MU 803–809, 811, 816–818, 820, or 841, allowing students to deepen their knowledge in areas such as music history, analysis, or applied musicianship. A language or related requirement may also be included depending on specialization, supporting broader artistic and academic development. The program culminates in MU 902, a 12-credit major project focused on advanced performance, demonstrating technical mastery and artistic interpretation. Overall, the MMus in Performance prepares graduates for professional careers as performers, educators, and collaborative musicians, combining rigorous training with experiential learning in keyboard performance and Western classical music traditions.
