COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Nursing is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to develop advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and evidence-based practice abilities in nursing. The program begins with core courses NURS 700 and NURS 701, which introduce advanced concepts in nursing theory, research, and professional practice. Students also complete NURS 702 and NURS 703, which further strengthen their understanding of healthcare systems, clinical decision-making, and leadership in nursing practice. A significant portion of the program consists of elective coursework that allows students to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals. Students choose a minimum of two courses from options such as NURS 775, NURS 777, NURS 778, NURS 785, NURS 786, NURS 787, NURS 788, NURS 799AA-ZZ, NURS 804, NURS 815, or NURS 820, enabling specialization in areas like advanced clinical practice, education, or research. In addition, students may select up to four electives from interdisciplinary offerings such as EAHR 810, EC&I 804, EC&I 834, ED 817, AGIN 803, AGIN 816, JSGS 823, JSGS 824, JSGS 826, JSGS 829, and JSGS 887, which broaden their understanding of health systems, education, aging, and governance. Overall, the program prepares graduates for advanced nursing roles in clinical care, leadership, education, and healthcare innovation.
