COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Software Systems Engineering (project-based) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to equip students with advanced technical knowledge and practical engineering skills in software development and systems design. The program is structured for professional engineers and focuses on applied learning through coursework and a major project rather than a thesis. Students begin with two ENSE 8xx courses that cover advanced topics in software systems engineering such as software architecture, system integration, distributed systems, and advanced development methodologies. They also complete two ENSE 3xx to 8xx level courses, allowing them to strengthen foundational or advanced technical skills depending on their background and career goals. Additional electives include one ENxx 8xx course and another ENxx or related discipline course from the 3xx to 8xx level, providing interdisciplinary flexibility in areas such as computer science or engineering. The program also includes ENGG 701, ENGG 702, and ENGG 703, which focus on engineering communication, research methods, ethics, and professional development. A key requirement is ENSE 902, a 6-credit project completed over two semesters, where students apply software engineering principles to solve real-world problems. Overall, the program prepares graduates for advanced professional roles in software engineering, system design, and technology development.
