COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering (MEng) in Software Systems Engineering (co-op) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to combine advanced academic coursework with practical industry experience in software development and systems engineering. The program is structured to strengthen both technical expertise and professional skills through a blend of classroom learning and co-operative education placements. Students begin with two ENSE 8xx courses that cover advanced topics in software systems engineering, including software architecture, system design, distributed computing, and modern development methodologies. They also complete two ENSE 3xx to 8xx level courses, which help reinforce foundational knowledge or provide advanced specialization depending on the student’s background. In addition, students take two ENxx 8xx courses to broaden their technical understanding across related engineering or computing disciplines, along with two additional ENxx or related discipline courses from the 3xx to 8xx level, offering further flexibility and interdisciplinary learning. The program includes ENGG 600 and ENGG 601, which support co-op preparation and professional development, followed by ENGG 602, ENGG 701, ENGG 702, and ENGG 703, which focus on communication, ethics, and engineering practice. Overall, the co-op MEng program prepares graduates for industry careers by integrating academic learning with real-world work experience in software engineering and technology development.
