COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Education (MEd) in Teaching, Learning and Leadership (project-based) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to develop advanced professional knowledge and practical skills in education, with a focus on applying theory to real-world contexts. The program begins with an approved research methods course, which equips students with foundational skills in data analysis and inquiry to support evidence-informed practice. Students also complete either EC&I 804 or EDL 819, focusing on curriculum, instruction, or educational leadership, depending on their professional interests. A key component of the program is a course from the anti-oppressive education or Indigenous education suite, which emphasizes equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching and leadership practices. In addition, students complete five 8xx-level elective courses, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific areas such as curriculum development, policy, leadership, or pedagogy. The program culminates in ED 900, a 6-credit project completed over time, where students apply their learning to a practical educational issue or initiative. This project may involve program development, applied research, or evaluation within a professional setting. Overall, the program prepares graduates for leadership roles in education by combining academic knowledge with practical application and professional experience.
