COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Education (MEd) in Teaching, Learning and Leadership (course-based) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to provide comprehensive academic and professional development in educational theory, curriculum, and leadership without a thesis or major project requirement. The program begins with an approved research methods course, which equips students with foundational skills in data analysis and inquiry to support evidence-based decision-making in educational settings. Students are also required to complete EC&I 804 and EDL 819, which focus on curriculum and instruction as well as educational leadership, helping to build a strong core understanding of teaching and leadership practices. A key feature of the program is a course from the anti-oppressive education or Indigenous education suite, which emphasizes equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive approaches in education. In addition, students complete five 8xx-level elective courses, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests such as policy, pedagogy, or administration. The program concludes with EFDN 899, a capstone-style course that integrates learning across the program. Overall, the course-based MEd prepares graduates for leadership roles in education, enhancing their ability to improve teaching, learning, and institutional effectiveness in diverse educational environments.
