COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Psychology (practicum options 1 and 2) is a professionally oriented graduate program designed to provide students with advanced applied training in psychological and educational practice rather than a traditional thesis-based research focus. Offered through the University of Regina, the program prepares students to work in real-world educational and counselling environments by integrating academic learning with supervised field experience. Students begin with an approved research methods course, selected from options such as ED 800, ED 801, ED 810, ED 815, ED 816, or ED 817, which develop essential skills in research design and evidence-based practice. The program then allows students to tailor their learning through elective courses approved in consultation with faculty or a thesis/practicum supervisor, depending on the route. A key component of both practicum options is the supervised practicum experience, which carries 3.0 credit hours but typically involves between 300 and 400 hours of practical fieldwork. This hands-on training allows students to apply psychological theories and intervention strategies in educational or counselling settings while developing professional competencies such as assessment, communication, and ethical practice.
