COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Process Systems Engineering (thesis-based) is a 30-credit hour graduate program designed to provide advanced training in process engineering, systems analysis, and applied research. The program focuses on developing strong analytical and problem-solving skills through a combination of graduate coursework and independent thesis research under faculty supervision. Students complete three ENPC 8xx courses, which cover advanced topics in process systems engineering such as process design, optimization, control, and systems modelling. These courses build a strong technical foundation for addressing complex engineering challenges in industrial and environmental systems. In addition, students take one elective course from ENxx 8xx or a related discipline, allowing them to broaden their expertise and integrate interdisciplinary knowledge into their studies. The program also includes ENGG 900, which focuses on research methodology, professional development, and ethical engineering practice, preparing students for advanced research work. The central component of the degree is ENPC 901, which accounts for 15 credit hours and involves conducting original, supervised research in a specialized area of process systems engineering. This thesis work contributes new knowledge to the field and demonstrates the student’s ability to design, execute, and communicate high-level research. Overall, the MASc program prepares graduates for doctoral studies and research-intensive careers in engineering and industry.
