COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Energy Systems Engineering (thesis-based) is a 30.0 credit hour research-focused graduate program designed to develop advanced technical and analytical expertise in sustainable and modern energy systems. Offered through the University of Regina, the program emphasizes independent research, innovation, and problem-solving in areas related to energy generation, conversion, storage, and distribution. Students complete graduate-level coursework in ENER 8xx courses, which provide advanced knowledge in energy systems technologies, modeling, and optimization. Additional electives from ENxx or related engineering disciplines (including ENER 3xx to 4xx level courses) allow students to specialize in specific areas such as renewable energy, hydrogen systems, or energy infrastructure. The program also includes ENGG 900, which supports research development and academic training. The central component of the degree is ENER 901, a thesis-based research project where students conduct original, supervised research contributing new knowledge to the field of energy systems engineering. This research may involve simulation, experimental work, or applied engineering design. The MASc program prepares graduates for careers in research institutions, energy industries, environmental organizations, and further doctoral studies, equipping them with strong research capabilities and expertise needed to address global energy and sustainability challenges.
