COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Energy Systems Engineering with a co-op option at the University of Regina is a 30 credit-hour graduate program that combines advanced academic coursework, independent research, and industry experience. Offered through the University of Regina, the program is designed to prepare students for careers in sustainable energy, engineering research, and advanced technical roles in the energy sector. The curriculum includes graduate-level ENER 8xx courses that cover core topics such as renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, biomass, and nuclear), energy conversion and storage technologies, pipeline and energy transportation systems, hydrogen and CO₂ infrastructure, and advanced materials used in energy applications. Students also take electives from ENxx or ENER 3xx–4xx level courses, allowing specialization in areas like energy modeling, computational methods, machine learning applications in energy systems, and industrial energy processes. A major component of the program is ENER 901, where students conduct supervised thesis research involving experimental work, simulation, or system design to solve real-world energy challenges. The co-op option further enhances learning by integrating paid industry work terms, giving students practical experience in energy companies and research organizations. Overall, the program equips graduates with strong technical, analytical, and research skills needed to contribute to global energy innovation and sustainability.
