COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Liberal Arts at the University of Regina is a 60 credit hour program designed to provide students with a broad and flexible foundation in multiple academic disciplines. It emphasizes the development of transferable skills such as critical thinking, communication, research, and analytical reasoning through exposure to a wide range of subject areas. Core requirements include ENGL 100 for critical reading and writing skills and INDG 100 for an introduction to Indigenous studies, along with a course in logical and numerical reasoning selected from philosophy, economics, mathematics, statistics, or related fields. Students also take introductory-level courses in humanities, social sciences, Indigenous knowledge, media and arts, and science, ensuring a well-rounded academic experience. In addition, students complete two courses in a second language, which strengthens communication and cultural awareness. A key feature of the program is the inclusion of a minor from the Faculty of Arts, allowing students to gain depth in a specific discipline while maintaining a broad academic base. The remaining credits are completed through elective courses that further support individual interests and academic goals. Overall, the diploma prepares students for further university study or diverse career paths by building strong foundational skills and interdisciplinary knowledge applicable to many professional fields.
