COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in General Science is a 60 credit hour program that provides students with a broad foundation in scientific disciplines while allowing specialization in a chosen field. The program includes core science courses such as BIOL 100 and BIOL 101 for biology fundamentals, CHEM 104 and CHEM 105 or 140 for chemistry principles, CS 110 or CS 165 for introductory computing, and ESC 102 for earth sciences. Students also complete mathematics courses such as MATH 103 or 110 and MATH 111 or 112, along with physics courses including PHYS 109 or 111 and PHYS 119 or 112. Additional foundational training is provided through ENGL 100 and ENGL 110 to strengthen academic writing and communication skills, as well as STAT 100 or 160 for statistical reasoning. A key component of the diploma is the concentration requirement, where students specialize in one area such as Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Geology, or Environmental Geoscience, gaining deeper knowledge in their chosen discipline. Students also complete elective courses from Arts, Science, or Media areas to broaden their academic experience. Overall, the diploma builds strong analytical, mathematical, and scientific skills while serving as a pathway into Bachelor of Science degree programs or science-related careers.
