COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Criminology at the University of Regina is a 60 credit hour program designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of crime, justice systems, and social responses to criminal behaviour. The program includes core academic requirements such as ENGL 100 and INDG 100, along with additional Arts core courses that build communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Students begin with introductory criminology courses like CRIM 090, CRIM 101, CRIM 221, CRIM 230, and CRIM 241, which introduce key concepts such as crime theory, justice systems, and social control. As the program progresses, students take more advanced courses including CRIM 289, CRIM 318, CRIM 319, CRIM 350, and CRIM 370, which explore topics like criminal justice policy, policing, corrections, and social responses to crime. Supporting courses such as CRIM 276 or PHIL 276, CRIM 203 or PSYC 204, and CRIM 304 or 305 help students understand ethical, psychological, and sociological dimensions of crime. Students also complete open electives to broaden their academic experience. Overall, the diploma builds strong analytical and research skills while preparing students for careers in justice services, law enforcement support, social services, or further studies in criminology or related fields.
