COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in Statistics is a 30.0 credit hour program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in statistical theory, mathematical reasoning, and data analysis techniques. Offered through the University of Regina, the program equips learners with essential quantitative skills that are valuable across a wide range of academic disciplines and professional fields. The curriculum begins with an introductory course chosen from CS 110, CS 165, or STAT 165, which introduces students to basic computing or statistical concepts. Students then complete foundational mathematics courses including MATH 110 and MATH 111, followed by additional core requirements such as MATH 122, STAT 160, and either STAT 251 or MATH 251, which build essential skills in calculus, probability, and statistical reasoning. Advanced coursework includes STAT 252 and STAT 354, which deepen students’ understanding of statistical methods, inference, and applied data analysis. Finally, students complete two STAT courses at the 300- or 400-level, allowing for specialization in more advanced statistical topics. Overall, the program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing students for further study in statistics or related fields, as well as careers in data analysis, research, economics, health sciences, and other data-driven industries.
