COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in User Experience Design is a 30.0 credit hour program designed to equip students with the skills needed to create user-centered digital and physical experiences that are functional, accessible, and engaging. Offered through the University of Regina, the program combines creativity, technology, and human-centered design principles to prepare students for careers in design and interactive media. The curriculum begins with MAP 001, followed by foundational courses such as CTCH/DES 110, 111, and either 112 or 113, which introduce core concepts in design thinking, visual communication, and user experience principles. Students then progress to CTCH/DES 219, which deepens their understanding of interaction design and usability. The program includes two additional CTCH/DES 200-level courses or ENSE 271, allowing students to build technical and applied skills. Advanced learning is developed through two courses selected from CTCH/DES 306, 312, or 315, focusing on specialized topics such as interface design, prototyping, or emerging technologies. The certificate is completed with CTCH/DES 313 and CTCH/DES 316, which emphasize advanced user experience evaluation, system design, and project-based learning. Overall, the program prepares students to design intuitive, inclusive, and innovative user experiences across digital platforms, software systems, and interactive technologies in a wide range of industries.
