COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in Intercultural Leadership is a 30.0 credit hour program designed to develop students’ leadership abilities within diverse cultural, organizational, and community contexts. Offered through the University of Regina, the program prepares learners to take on leadership roles in Saskatchewan Crown corporations, as well as in public, private, and community-based sectors. The curriculum emphasizes intercultural understanding, ethical leadership, and collaborative decision-making. Required courses include ILP 100, ILP 300, ILP 301, ILP 390, ILP 391, and ILP 400, which progressively build knowledge and skills in leadership theory, intercultural communication, community engagement, and applied leadership practice. Students also complete INDG 100, which provides foundational understanding of Indigenous perspectives and histories, and ENGL 100, which strengthens academic writing and communication skills essential for effective leadership. In addition, learners select two open elective courses, allowing them to broaden their academic experience and tailor the program to their interests. The certificate encourages students to reflect on their own cultural identities while developing respect and understanding for the perspectives of others. Overall, it fosters critical thinking, cultural awareness, and practical leadership skills, preparing graduates to lead responsibly and effectively in diverse and evolving environments at local, national, and global levels.
