COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in Health Studies at the University of Regina is a 30.0 credit hour program designed to provide students with a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of health, wellness, and the factors that influence human well-being. The program combines perspectives from the social sciences, natural sciences, and Indigenous studies to examine health in a holistic way. Required coursework begins with an introductory option such as ACAD 100, ENGL 100, KHSR 101, or RDWT 120, followed by foundational courses including KIN 170, INHS 100, and HS 200. Students also complete a psychology requirement through either PSYC 101 or PSYC 102, along with a science or kinesiology course selected from options such as BIOL 100, 101, 110, 111, 140 or KIN 162, 260, 261, 262, or 267. In addition, students choose two courses from a wide list of approved electives spanning disciplines such as anthropology, biology, economics, health studies, Indigenous studies, kinesiology, philosophy, psychology, sociology, statistics, and women’s and gender studies. This flexible structure allows learners to tailor their studies while gaining a strong foundation in health-related knowledge. Overall, the certificate prepares students to understand health from multiple perspectives and supports further study or careers in health, community services, or related fields.
