COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in Film Production is a structured academic program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of filmmaking. It requires the completion of specific credit hours and a combination of core, production, and film studies courses, totaling 30.0 credit hours. The program begins with an introductory course, selected from FILM 100, ENGL 100, or ACAD 100, followed by essential core courses including FILM 201, FILM 202, and FILM 209, which introduce key concepts in film analysis, storytelling, and production techniques. Students must also complete two additional FILM 200-level Studies courses and one advanced Studies course at the FILM 300 or 400 level, allowing for deeper exploration of film theory and critical analysis. Practical experience is emphasized through two production-based courses chosen from FILM 200- or 300-level Production courses, or related media and design options such as CTCH 200-level, MAP 200-level, or ART 223. To earn the certificate, students must meet academic performance standards, requiring a minimum of 65.00% postgraduate GPA (PGPA) and 60.00% undergraduate GPA (UGPA). In some cases, course registration may require approval from the Department Head, ensuring students are appropriately prepared for advanced study in film production.
