COURSE CURRICULUM

The Certificate in Animation is a focused program that develops both creative and technical skills needed for entry into the animation and digital media industries. It consists of a total of 18 credit hours of required coursework and is designed to give students a strong foundation in animation principles, storytelling, and production techniques. The program begins with core film studies courses such as FILM 200 and FILM 203, which introduce students to the basics of film language, visual storytelling, and media production. Students then progress to more advanced courses like FILM 303, where they refine their understanding of animation concepts and production workflows. They also complete either FILM 312, FILM 404, or CTCH 314, which allows them to explore advanced topics in animation, visual effects, or creative technologies. In addition, students choose two elective courses from options such as ART 220, ART 221, ART 230, ART 336, FILM 380AJ, or CTCH 216/DES 216, helping them build specialized skills in areas like drawing, design, or digital media production. The program emphasizes hands-on learning and creative practice, preparing students for roles in animation studios, film production, gaming, and multimedia industries.
