COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program requires a total of 120 credit hours and offers an intensive and comprehensive curriculum designed for advanced study in mathematics. Students must complete 72 credit hours in major requirements, including core courses such as MATH 110, 111, 122, 213, 217, 221, 222, 223, 305, 312, 313, and the advanced course MATH 323. Additional requirements include MATH 251 or STAT 251, several mathematics courses at the 200, 300, and 400 levels, and two senior 400-level mathematics courses to deepen subject expertise. Students must also complete STAT 160 and one introductory course in computer science or statistics, such as CS 110, CS 165, or STAT 165. The honours program includes a research component through MATH 497 and MATH 498, which typically involve independent study or thesis work. A minimum major GPA of 75 percent is required, reflecting the program’s academic rigor. In addition to major courses, students must complete general education requirements, including ENGL 100 and ENGL 110, electives in Arts and Natural Sciences, and open electives. Overall, students must maintain a program GPA of at least 70 percent and an undergraduate GPA of 60 percent to graduate successfully.
