COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Environmental Biology at the University of Regina is a 132-credit-hour advanced undergraduate program designed for students who want in-depth training in environmental science, ecology, and research. The program begins with core foundational courses such as BIOL 100, BIOL 101, BIOL 205, CHEM 104, CHEM 140, MATH 103 or 110, PHYS 109 or 111, ENGL 100, ENGL 110, and STAT 200, which build strong skills in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and scientific communication. Students then progress into upper-level biology coursework, including BIOL 488 (spanning two terms), BIOL 498, and BIOL 499, which involve advanced research, thesis work, and independent scientific investigation. A significant portion of the degree includes five courses from List C, focusing on specialized environmental and ecological topics. Additional required courses such as GES 121, GES 200, and one of GES 325, 326, or 327 provide knowledge in earth systems and environmental geography. To broaden academic experience, students also complete electives from science, arts, or media-related fields. The Honours program places strong emphasis on research, fieldwork, data analysis, and critical thinking, preparing students for graduate studies or professional careers in environmental science, conservation, ecological research, and resource management. A minimum 70% GPA is required, reflecting its advanced academic standards.
