COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics at the University of Regina is a 120-credit-hour program designed to build strong skills in data analysis, probability, and statistical modelling. The curriculum begins with foundational courses in computer science and mathematics, including CS 110, CS 115, MATH 110, MATH 111, MATH 122, and MATH 213, which develop programming and mathematical reasoning abilities essential for advanced statistical study. Students then progress into core statistics courses such as STAT 160 or STAT 200, STAT 251, STAT 252, STAT 300, STAT 351, STAT 354, STAT 357, STAT 452, and STAT 485, which cover topics including probability theory, statistical inference, regression analysis, data modelling, and advanced statistical applications. In addition, students complete four STAT courses at the 300- or 400-level to deepen their expertise in specialized areas of statistics. The program is supported by Arts Core Requirements, including ENGL 100 and ENGL 110 for communication skills, along with electives in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and interdisciplinary fields to ensure a well-rounded education. Students also complete five open electives, allowing flexibility to explore other academic interests. Overall, the program emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application of statistics, preparing graduates for careers in data analysis, government, finance, healthcare, research, and technology, as well as for advanced graduate studies in statistics or data science.
