COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Statistics at the University of Regina focuses on building strong foundations in probability, mathematical theory, and applied statistical methods. The program includes core courses in mathematics such as MATH 110, MATH 111, MATH 122, and MATH 213, along with computing courses like CS 110 and CS 115 to support data analysis and computational skills. Students study essential statistics courses including STAT 160 or STAT 200, STAT 251, STAT 252, STAT 300, STAT 351, STAT 354, STAT 357, STAT 452, and STAT 485, along with additional advanced-level STAT electives at the 300 and 400 level. Alongside major requirements, students complete English composition courses, arts electives, science electives, and open electives to develop broad academic exposure. The Honours program in Statistics is more intensive and research-oriented, including advanced mathematics such as MATH 217, MATH 221, and MATH/CS 261, as well as higher-level statistics courses like STAT 301, STAT 362, STAT 489, and additional 400-level STAT courses. It also includes computational depth through CS 265 and emphasizes research readiness with structured upper-level coursework. The Combined Major in Statistics and Economics integrates statistical reasoning with economic theory, requiring courses in ECON 201, 202, 301, 302, 307, 310, 321, and 322 alongside key statistics and mathematics courses. This combined program is designed for students interested in data-driven economic analysis, policy evaluation, finance, and analytical decision-making, offering interdisciplinary training across both quantitative and economic fields.
