COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology at the University of Regina is a 120-credit-hour undergraduate program designed to study the interactions between living organisms and their environments, with a strong focus on ecology, conservation, and environmental change. The program begins with foundational science courses including BIOL 100, BIOL 101, BIOL 205, MATH 103 or 110, PHYS 109 or 111, ENGL 100, ENGL 110, and STAT 200, which provide essential skills in biology, mathematics, physics, communication, and data analysis. Students then progress into higher-level biology courses including BIOL 200-, 300-, or 400-level classes, along with specialized ecological and environmental courses such as BIOL 266 or 378. A key component of the program includes BIOL 488, which spans two terms and involves advanced research or project-based learning. Students also complete three courses from List C, along with GES 121, GES 200, and one of GES 325, 326, or 327, which focus on geography, environmental systems, and earth sciences. To broaden academic learning, students also take four electives from science, arts, or media fields. The program develops strong fieldwork, analytical, and research skills, preparing graduates for careers in environmental monitoring, conservation, resource management, and ecological research. A minimum 65% GPA is required for graduation.
