COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Regina is a four-year undergraduate degree that combines core biology, chemistry, mathematics, and supporting science courses with electives to build a strong foundation in biochemical sciences. The program requires a total of 120 credit hours. Students complete major requirements such as BIOC 220, 221, 321, and additional 300–400 level biochemistry courses, along with essential biology courses like BIOL 100, 101, 205, 224/266/378, 305, and 310. Chemistry is a major component, including CHEM 104, 105, 140, 210, 215/250, and 241. Supporting quantitative and technical skills are developed through MATH 110, 111, STAT 160, and computer science courses such as CS 110/115/165. The program also includes physics (PHYS 109 or 111) and a range of electives, including arts, media, science, and open electives to provide academic flexibility. English courses (ENGL 100 and 110) are also required to strengthen communication skills. To graduate, students must achieve a minimum of 60% UGPA and 65% in the major GPA. Overall, the program is designed to provide strong scientific training for careers in research, healthcare, biotechnology, and further studies in biomedical sciences.
