COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics is a 120-credit-hour program that combines core physics education with applied science, computing, engineering fundamentals, and elective flexibility to prepare students for careers in technology and research. The program begins with preparatory physics courses PHYS 051, 052, 053, and 054, followed by foundational sequences such as PHYS 111, 112, 201, 202, 242, 251, and 261, which develop core understanding in mechanics, electricity, magnetism, and modern physics. Students then advance through higher-level courses including PHYS 301, 311, 342, and 372, along with a research-oriented component through PHYS 498. The program also requires supporting coursework in CHEM 104, CS 110 and CS 115, ENGG 100, and a strong mathematics sequence including MATH 110, 111, 122, 213, and 217. Students must also complete three upper-level physics electives from PHYS 300-level, PHYS 401, 421, 432, or ASTR 300-level courses to gain specialization. In addition, students take ENGL 100 and 110, one approved computer science elective, and a broad range of nine approved electives, along with four Arts, La Cité, or Media, Art, and Performance courses to ensure interdisciplinary learning. A minimum major GPA of 70% and overall PGPA/UGPA of 60–65% is required, depending on program regulations.
